Flexography is a direct rotary printing method, similar to typography, which uses graphic relief moulds, made of rubber or photopolymer. In the flexography-printing group, ink is carried by inkwell, thanks to an inking roller, known as anilox. The ink of a liquid consistency is detached from the alinox cavities and "wets" the surface of the printing plate, whose surface tension is greater than that of the alinox itself. In the same way, the ink film is removed from the printing plate to wet the support to be printed, which in turn will have a higher surface tension than that of the photopolymer. Thanks to the pressure that is generated by the contact, the printing surface of the printing plate is adapted to different types of print materials. 
This versatility of applications characterizes the flexographic system and it has determined its success. The assembly and the processing of elements, which contribute to the printing plate preparation is carried out on Mac workstations on which spin special software; in addition to graphics- related programs and images processing programs. This special dedicated software, shall take into account all the technical specifications linked to printing plants production. The polymeric plates are engraved and exposed to UV rays in special machines. 
The plate is then ready for incision and excess materials are removed by solvent washing. Subsequently the mould is fixed and exposed to UVA and UVC rays lamps. Moreover, there is an innovative technology, in which a digital plate is subject to a thermal process without using chemical agents, drying and solvents. 
The relief of the plate is obtained liquefying the unexposed portions of the photopolymers layer, because of heat. Pressing slightly, excess material is absorbed by a nonwoven fabric, to have the plate immediately ready for the next treatment.
